MWC Tiebreaker Rules

The Wyoming gets screwed scenario:

Wyoming could play 6 total games.

The Boise and 1 other game is canceled.

Wyoming goes 6-0 but does not play Boise or SDSU.

Boise and SDSU play 6 MWC games plus BYU. They go 6-0 as well and perhaps they beat BYU. Regardless of whether they beat BYU or not they are still 6-0 in MWC games. That makes 3 teams with the same record.

Success against lower teams is the next criteria. Boise and SDSU play SJSU. Wyoming doesn’t. SJSU finishes higher than UNM and beats UNM so Wyoming is screwed there.

Let’s say UNM beats SJSU but SJSU plays more games than UNM and has a higher win %. Wyoming screwed there.

UNM loses to SJSU but beats Hawaii to go 1-1 against each other as do any other MWC teams meaning the next criteria is CFP ratings. Playing BYU and winning is not an opportunity for Wyoming to enhance their CFP status. Wyoming screwed here.

The best result will be to play all 8 games and go 8-0. That is the only guarantee with the MWC tie breaker rules.

BTW - You can Insert any common opponents and any tied teams.
