Track got me thinking and I didn’t want to derail his thread but I wanted to share why this team is going to hold such a special place in my memory for as long as I’m alive.
I lost my mom on Valentine’s Day this year. She graduated from the University in 83 (some of you probably have crossed paths with her) and I wouldn’t be the Pokes fan I am without her. She followed all the sports and was a big member with Cowboy Joe and I could always count on her to want to talk about the Cowboys. Following the sour taste football left in our mouths we were enjoying the success basketball was having. The last thing anyone got from her was she’d sent me something about the team being ranked (we got ranked that day and it seems we bounced around after) and how excited she was. Following the games after was definitely something to get my mind off life and while it seemed they struggled it was always an outlet because I know she was still rooting for them. Seeing them make the Dance will be something I’m going to cherish for a long time as I know she’d have been extremely excited.
So as Track said. Sports matter. Don’t let anyone tell you different.
