....and needing overtime to get to 49 points? 18 FG attempts in the second half--47 for the game. Basically a little over a shot a minute. No way you can beat a team with athletes and an aggressive offense. New Mexico is a young, inexperienced team, while we aren't. Leaves way too much to chance and not enough on skill and ability. For those of you who think Shyatt is this great mastermind of a coach, explain what exactly is it that he's doing to inspires such awe? Holding on to the ball? How can anyone say that's exciting? Thankfully there's a shot clock...
After the Fresno game he admonished the team for--paraphrasing here--focusing more on the offensive side of things and less on getting stops. The sports bar I was at tonight....packed--but nobody even paying attention to the game until the final seconds, and then it was just 3-4 of us. Nothing happening to inspire. Instead of turning a corner and trending upward, we'll be in rebuilding mode next year. In year five.
The MWC is wayyyyy down this year and our senior-dominated team should be crushing. It should be our turn. Instead, we're fiddling around with 49 points a game. The amazing thing about all of this is that even with an RPI of 91, the conference is so down this year that we still have as good a chance to win the tourney.....credit Shyatt?
