first chance to get on the computer since getting out of the Dome of Doom....
WOW, so many emotions went through me as I watched the game. There were so many ties and lead changes, that was what college athletics is all about. I was trying to not get too excited after the Pokes pulled out to a 5 point lead with about 11 minutes left to go in the game. The refs again were inconsistent, but not wildly so. Those flops by the New Mexico players that were called charges on Larry had me scratching my head when they allowed big time banging going on out front and especially when Larry got the ball, but then they called a few of them in the second half. The young ref never even made one call in the whole first half, it was just the two older guys that made those calls. But these comments about the refs were really just observations and not a criticism. I was really impressed with Wyoming's defense as they filled the passing lanes and made more than a few steals, and they cut down on the turnovers in the second half, which was huge.
My hats off to the New Mexico guard, Greenwood, he made some unconscious shots and my prayers to his mom and her beating cancer. Really my hats off to the whole New Mexico team, they played hard and tough. I thought that their coach was a bit of a whiner, but I hope that their team gets into the post season, probably the NIT.
I must admit that after New Mexico made that second 3 in OT I thought that the game was over, but these Pokes proved me wrong. I cheered and clapped and yelled right to the end.....my hats off most of all to the whole Cowboy team and their coaches!
my hands hurt and my voice is raspy but I have a huge smile on my face!
Congrats Pokes on a great win!
P.S. - My grand daughter was destroyed that she didn't win an iPod or a TV, but it was nice seeing Bill Garnett again after all of these years. Just for curiosity sake, what is Bill doing with himself now and where does he live, if anyone knows it would be great to find out, thanks.
