The University of Wyoming men's basketball team landed its third recruit in the 2015 class from the State of Florida. Justin James, a 6-foot-7, 180-pound forward, announced his commitment on Twitter Sunday night and followed that up with texts to GoWyoGo.com confirming the commitment.
"Happy to say that I am committed to the University of Wyoming," James texted just after 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Last season James averaged 22 points, nine rebounds, and four assists per game for Oldsmar Christian in Florida. He joins his private school roommate, Andrew Moemeka, and Eric Turner as Cowboy commits from the State of Florida.
Jordan Naughton, a forward from California, and Denver-area point guard Austin Conway round out what could be the best recruiting class in years for the Wyoming basketball team.
"It is my home away from home," James texted GoWyoGo.com Sunday night when asked why he committed to Wyoming.
James holds scholarship offers from Mississippi State, George Mason, Wyoming, Murray State, and Florida International, among others. James visited Wyoming in August and spent last weekend in Starkville (Miss.) before deciding to spend his next four years in Laramie this evening.
"It went really good," James said of his visit. "I like it a lot. It was a beautiful campus. The visit definitely went better than I thought it would."
After the announcement on twitter, James was congratulated via tweet by his teammates. Moemeka offered a simple, "Let's go," while Austin Conway answered with a, "congrats and welcome to the Cowboy family." The two, as well as Turner then engaged in banter regarding a proposed shooting contest and one-on-one game to decide who wears the number two for the Brown and Gold.
