Just finished watching ESPN 30-for-30 documentary, "The Gospel According to Mac," the story of Bill McCartney and the Colorado Buffs drive to the "5th Down" National Championship. It was an eye opening experience for me. It actually changed my perception of the man. Now, I don't agree with him on every point, but there's no doubt he's a hell of a coach. His players sure took him to their hearts and played their hardest for him.
The two biggest things that struck me was that his first three years at Colorado they went 2-8-1, 4-7, and 1-10 and that all his players called him a no nonsense task master that demanded the best from them. The story give me hope that Coach Bohl can build the Cowboys like Coach McCartney built his Buffs.
I know there's a lot of controversy surrounding Coach McCartney, and again I don't agree with everything he stands for, but this documentary sure put a different perspective on the man than what I held prior to watching.
If you have Netflix you can catch the program. I highly recommend it.
