As Nance goes, so goes the Pokes. Honestly, I sometimes wonder what team some of you guys have been watching. When Nance blew out his knee, who would have thought he would have come back as soon as he did and play the entire season? Who thought we would be any good if he didn't recover and play well? Who thought the season ended during that first CSU game when it looked like Larry re-injured his knee (I did!).
There are too many intangibles that Nance brings that totally enhance the play of his teammates. He impacts on offense and probably more on defense. Even if he is not playing his best, he has that same effect. The opponent must respect his presence.
Which player aside from Nance do you think is going to pick the team up on his back and ride to glory? What facts do you have to support that such player has the ability to do this? Why is it that you think an opposing team is going to fear this next man up? I can't think of one player aside from maybe Adams that likely scares our opponents, and without Larry to compliment him, he isn't that scary.
We don't dominate teams. Even with Nance, we win by a razors edge and don't always look too great doing it. By this team's standards the biggest blowout against a quality team was CSU, which, by the way was Nance's last game. Why do you think we play the style we do? If we had a bunch of thoroughbreds running the court with Larry, we would be putting up 90 points.
If Nance returns and returns back to form. We will be a tough team to beat. Hopefully we don't slide to much going into the tournament and hopefully we avoid UNLV on their home court. If so, who knows? We could win it all. This has been a great season and a great group of kids to watch. If everyone is healthy going into the end, maybe we still make the NCAA's. We ain't doing it without Larry though.
