Fountain - Fort Carson (Colo.) High School linebacker Drue Harris is no stranger to Laramie, Wyo. The 6-foot, 220-pounder has been to War Memorial Stadium plenty of times to watch his brother, Devyn Harris, play for the Brown and Gold.

This weekend, the younger Harris will be in attendance as an unofficial visitor of the University of Wyoming, one of four schools to have offered him a scholarship.

"I think I am looking forward to seeing the difference in this year's team versus last year's," Harris said. "I think the new coaching staff is something that is attracting me to Wyoming," Harris said. "I didn't like the way the old staff operated. My brother says this staff leads them through championship-caliber practices. He said the new staff really understands the game."

Harris said he has been to Laramie several times and understands it is a small town, though he said he does enjoy the people at the University of Wyoming. Among his last visits to Wyoming was a spring break trip to Laramie to see practice.

In addition to his scholarship offer from Wyoming, Harris also holds offers from Colorado State, the University of Northern Colorado, and the Air Force Academy. He is also talking to San Diego State, as well as Colorado.

He managed 105 tackles as an outside linebacker for Fort Carson last year, as well as 950 yards rushing after being shifted to the backfield late in the season.

Harris offers a unique physical skill set, running a 4.5 time in the 40-yard dash, while claiming a bench press max of 370 and a squat of 495.

This weekend Harris will fit a lot of football into a short period of time. On Thursday night he will lead his high school team into battle against Lakewood, before attending the Rocky Mountain Showdown - the yearly match-up of Colorado and Colorado State - on Friday night. Then, up to Laramie for the Cowboys' first game of the season.

Harris said he plans to make a college choice by the end of his senior football season.
