Heritage defensive end Conner Cain thought the recruiting process was over when he committed to Eastern Washington in early November. That certainly does not appear to be the case with a larger school recently getting into the mix for this talented senior.
"A month ago, I committed to Eastern Washington. This last week, Wyoming really came into the picture after they hired Coach Bohl. Right now, I'm going to take a visit to Eastern Washington on the 10th and one to Wyoming on the 16th."
Cain admitted that it has been stressful since the new scholarship was extended.
"It is pretty confusing because I committed and thought it was out of the way. Then Wyoming comes into the picture and it is a totally different options. One is a program that is building and another is a power. There is a lot to really think about."
Things have ramped up with the new staff at Wyoming.
"When they said they were going to offer, it floored me. In October, they had said that they were offering a walk-on spot but the offer has made it more confusing. That comes with the territory."
Cain goes back and forth between if he has a favorite.
"Wyoming was my favorite after the whole camp process. They offered me the walk-on but their coach said that I'd be better off getting my school paid for. I went to a game at Eastern Washington and I loved it up there. We used to live in Spokane so it felt like home. Eastern is a little ahead but it is not very far. I'll go on my visits and see."
The level of play will factor in as well.
"For me, Eastern is a winner and they have a really family atmosphere. You become a lot closer to your coach because it is not as big of a program. When you go to Wyoming, you get everything top of the line across the board. Wyoming is building a program while Eastern is a winning team. I have a lot going through my head right now."
