...The way I see it, Coach Bohl owes Cowboy fans an 8-4 and a 10-2 season for their allegiance and support. Do that before leaving and his legacy will be assured. He just finished foisting upon Cowboy fans one of the worst seasons ever, and while we're certainly used to such treatment by our university, enough of us have slammed enough shots of Cowboy Kool-aid to believe this year was a necessary process on the path to unheard of glory and success. Whatever.
At 6-18, and 4-12 in the MWC, Bohl can at least (barely) say he's no Vic Koenning. But it's now time to demonstrate to the fans much more dedicated than I that the program will be trending up. No more undersized players--shouldn't have ever been in that position anyway. More protection for Brian Hill (35 carries yesterday? That's bull$hit--not against letting a back get hot, but Hill got the record early, and Tapscott was pretty good too--seven yards a pop--but only seven carries). A quarterback we can build around instead of one year rentals. No more losing to crap programs like Eastern Michigan. The honeymoon is over, and 5-6 wins next year isn't an unreasonable request.
We need depth--everywhere. Not enough current players are going to magically or legally beef up in one year to the point they match up favorably against their opponents. If Bohl wants to have Brian Hill as a key component of future success, we'd better get started. If he has another big season next year (and he will, provided we don't run him into the ground), we'll likely be re-setting at running back for what (at least according to everyone here) will be the magical breakthrough in year four. It would be a shame to see Hill's future efforts squandered as part of some nebulous, long-term "plan" that, even if successful, means more losing first and then a coaching departure as a reward before the job is finished.
