Wyoming football is checking out Hawaii for top prospects and taking a good look at 6-foot-2, 220 pound defensive end Marc Ma.

The 2014 prospect said he has talked with Cowboy assistant Robin Ross and says he has familiarity with the Mountain West program.

"I know there are a few players with Hawaii ties on the team, so I feel I could fit in just fine should I get the opportunity to play at Wyoming," said Ma. "In regards to recruiting, I've been in contact with Coach Robin Ross. He was the tight ends coach at Oregon when my brother played golf there. We've had the chance to talk to each other over the phone and also kept in contact via email."

The Cowboys currently have two players from Hawaii in defensive end Siaosi Hala'ap'api and safety Tim Kamana and the Island is undervalued area for football talent, producing several FBS caliber players. The Pokes quarterback coach Jason Gesser is also from the area.

"I know Coach Jason Gesser is an assistant coach on the team and is from Saint Louis School in Hawaii, which is in the same league as Iolani," said Ma.

Ma said the Ross has given him some advise on what it will take to excel at the next level of major college football.

"He's asked me about my weight, so I think he wants me to add more weight to my frame. I've sent him my junior film and my mid season senior film to this point," said Ma. "He told me he's looking forward to seeing more of my senior film after my season is over."

Ma is a star at Iolani High School in Honolulu and plays for one of the most competitive teams in the state.

"I'm really excited to have the opportunity to finish my prep career as a DII state champion," Said Ma. "My team won our league title and earned a berth into the DII state tournament so I'm really looking forward to that."

Ma is timed at a 4.86 40-yard dash time and scored a 4.26 in the pro-agility test, a good measurement used by college recruiters.
