The Wyoming football team has its first commitment in the 2015 recruiting class. Kevin Prosser, a 6-foot-2, 197-pound outside linebacker from Aurora (Colo.) Gateway High School said he committed to the Wyoming program late this week. He said it was an emotional exchange for all involved.

"I decided today was the day," Prosser said. "I felt like the Wyoming staff really took the time to get to know me. It was a long process - about four months and this staff not only felt like a family, but they also care how I develop as a man."

Prosser said the call to the Wyoming coaches involved excitement and head coach Craig Bohl telling him he wasn't only wanted but needed. Prosser said his mother's reaction was even more touching.

"It was emotional here when I said I wanted to go to Wyoming," he said. "My mom was crying. I was in tears because I was just so glad to help take the burden off of her for paying for college. Being able to attend college this way is a blessing."

Prosser said he averaged nearly 12 tackles per game last season for Overland Trail High School before moving into the Gateway High School District. Wyoming was his first scholarship offer, although he had heavy interest from Colorado, Colorado State, Arizona, and Michigan.

During his high school career, Prosser has played several positions and said he expects to play linebacker, wide receiver and running back this season. Prosser had visited Colorado, Colorado State and Wyoming for Junior Days and came away impressed with the academic support he saw from Wyoming.

"I like their program and the way it is run," he said about his visit to Wyoming. "I feel like there aren't a lot of distractions. It is a place for people who want to go there and work. I want to get there and not worry about partying. I want to develop as a player and as a man. That is what Coach Bohl tells me is he wants to help me to become a better man in addition to a better football player."

Prosser said he plans to major in electrical engineering in Laramie. For now, he plans to continue to work hard in the classroom and the weight room.

"I just want to get out of the school year and stay responsible," Prosser said. "I will continue to be humble, work hard and keep doing what got me in this position."
