Oak Park (Ill.) cornerback Keyon Blankenbaker is quietly making a name for himself on the Chicagoland prep scene. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound defensive back from 7-1 River Forest High School has two interceptions already this season and scholarship offers from Central Michigan, Wyoming, Buffalo, and Cincinnati to his credit.
“When playing man I am very good with getting hands on, and locking onto the receivers hip,” Blankenbaker said. “I fly around and like being a ball hawk.”
Blankenbaker said the Wyoming coaches contacted him during his Junior year and presented a scholarship offer. They have continued the relationship this year and Blankenbaker said he will likely visit Laramie in December. Much of Blankenbaker’s understanding of the University of Wyoming comes from his former high school teammate and current Wyoming Cowboy, Jahmari Moore.
“Wyoming coaches and I have a good relationship they've called me a few times over this season and I also have a old teammate on the team currently,” Blankenbaker said. “Jahmari told me that its a nice school and the football team is very competitive. He said the coaches are good as well.”
Blankenbaker said he is searching for a school that will feature a good academic program in either business management, accounting, or sports medicine, as well as a football program that features coaches who can help him play while creating a close connection.
