The recruiting process is new to Littleton (Colo.) defender Matt Gaiter, but he is getting the hang of it quickly. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Chatfield High School prospect has five colleges talking to him regularly and has attended two Junior Days with a third coming up. It has taught him to think quickly.

"It's been an experience," Gaiter said. "It all happened so fast that you have to do it one day at a time. One day you will be at one school and the next week at another school doing the same stuff."

Gaiter was named First Team All-Super Six Conference a year ago and All-Colorado as well. He is awaiting his first scholarship offer, but is in regular contact with Colorado State, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah State, and Washington.

"The coaches tell me they like my vertical quickness," Gaiter said. "I need to work on my aggressiveness and I am quick off the ball. CU is thinking of me as a defensive tackle and Wyoming was thinking of me as a defensive end."

Gaiter said he will be at CU's Junior Day on April 12th and has already attended Junior Days at Colorado State and Wyoming already. In both cases he liked what he seen in attending.

At CSU there wasn't anything I didn't like," he said. "I was impressed with everything they had. They had nice facilities, nicer than I expected going into the visit. I had time to watch film with the D-line coach and it was nice to get a feel for what practice would be like.

"I was even more impressed with Wyoming," Gaiter continued. "The facilities were great and just walking through the campus, they had a nice stadium we got to see. When we were talking to the entire defense, they were saying they let their D-linemen be aggressive. That is something I would like."

Gaiter's trip to Boulder will be one that he has taken before, as both of his parents are CU grads. He cautions though, that the Buffs are far from a sure thing for his services in college.

Gaiter said he is considering either a Sports Marketing or Sports Media career.

"Growing up as a kid it was my dream to play football at CU, but right now I have been impressed by CU and Wyoming, so it is open game for everyone."
