Coach Bohl and several of his coaches were at the CJC Laramie County Blitz wrap up last night.
Bohl made it very clear that he came to Wyoming with no intention of coaching anywhere else in his career.
He said that decision is underscored by his focus on creating opportunities for Wyoming kids -- there are 24 on the roster right now compared to seven when he arrived -- and also focus on bringing in freshmen to build a base that will be part of a long-term committment.
It's not about quick fixes, and moving on.
Also Bryce Meredith spoke and was very emphatic about how happy he was to come back to Wyoming after the year at North Carolina State. He spoke about the better facilities for wrestling. He bragged about the fan support for the Wyoming wrestlers. He also talked about what a great benefit COA was at Wyoming because the benefits are being provided for all student athletes, not just revenuing producing sports, which is happening at some schools.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that the legislature does approve the two-year, $8 million matchng fund for athletics. It is a major bonus.
Along those lines, Coach Bohl pointed out that because of what the COA funds allow coaches to be able to afford to do in recruiting, Wyoming coaches were on the sidelines for Friday night games of 17 of the 23 players who signed Letters of Intent. It makes an impression to kids from outside of the Front Range and Wyoming when a coach has the ability to come in on a Friday night and watch them.
