Wyoming is always looking for Cowboy toughness when it comes to recruiting and head football coach Craig Bohl and his staff has one coming to Laramie as a preferred walk on this summer.
Wade Cicierski, a 5-foot-10 and 222 pound fullback runs like a bear got lose at a children's zoo when looking at his highlight film and his desire to only play at one school in Wyoming, makes him a good fit to earn a future scholarship at UW.
"We made our visit to Wyoming this past Monday. Wade will be playing for UW this fall as a preferred walk-on," said Wade's father Jeff. "He will start attending classes the 1st week of July this summer which will allow him to start working out with the team before summer camp begins. He will be playing fullback for the Cowboys."
The change from a spread offense to a pro style puts Bohl's staff in the position to find more fullback candidates and Cicierski could have ample opportunity in the future to work himself into playing time at the position and a possible scholarship down the road.
"After reading the same articles many read about what direction the Wyoming football program wants to go in and get back to Wyoming tough," said Cicierski. "I feel Wade is the ideal player they are looking for and fits that mold to a tee."
Cicierski is top notch student and impeccable work ethic that could allow him to elevate his game at the college level. He carriers a 3.5 grade average in what is called the Platinum Honors Program. It is the highest honors program in his high school that currently only has 12 members in the program.
In 3 years of varsity football, Cicierski is said to never dropped a pass in a game. He has excellent hands. A solid blocker that should continue to get better with his excellent balance and never gets over extended, and makes blocks.
"Wade is the perfect back for establishing the running game, wearing down a defense, pounding the ball when ahead, and running out the clock at the end of the game when sealing the victory," he said. "He would certainly be able to pass protect for the QB and even be a lead blocker for the 'home run' guy."
He benches 325, squats 480, and cleans 300 and timed at 4.75 in the fourty-yard dash, while planning on doing pre-law at UW on the academic side.
The Billings Senior High School standout is listed around 5-foot-10 and 220 pounds and looks to be able grow to around 230-235 in a college conditioning workout program.
Cicierski rushed for 1085 yards on 265 carriers in 11 starts for teams that went 3-7 his junior year and 4-6 his senior year.
