with apologies to Johnathan Swift, I think fans should bombard the athletic department with a proposal to try to sell beer at a football games this year. I suggest that the season ending UNLV game would be a good test run. First, it is the last game of the year giving the athletic department enough time to get permits issued and logistics in place. Second, it will also be the lowest attended game this year and thus the easiest to handle logistically. Third, students will be on Thanksgiving Break. Fourth, what a great way to give added value for the all the poor Cowboy fans that choose to attend this dog turd, pillow fight of a game in the freezing cold over Thanksgiving weekend.
The last two home games of the 2014 season averaged roughly 15, 000 in attendance. In 2013, the Nov. 23 game against Hawaii had 12.000 in attendance. The way the season is going no reason to think attendance will be more than 12-14,000. Therefore, it will be easy to see how much more money serving beer would add financially to this game.
So I propose that UW use its catering license at setup two beer tents in a corner of the north and south endzones and make one concession stand on the top level of the east and west stands as a beer concession and see how much can be sold. Beer sales can begin 45 minutes before kickoff and end at the end of the third quarters; all those of age can be given wrist bands and only one beer per transaction can be purchased. $6 a beer for domestics and $8 for import/craft beer.
The data is out that this can a positive thing for fans and the school. What say you? If the AD had all the reports attached would that help?
