What a crap show the league is this year. A quick glance around the league:
West:
SDSU - Getting pounded by Utah 35-0. Have yet to win or be competitive against a FBS opponent.
SJSU - Slight moral victory by keeping it close against Auburn, but based on today’s results maybe Auburn isn’t very good (by SEC standards anyway).
Nevada - Bad. Like, give up 50 points to Incarnate Word bad. Last seen playing a 15 hour lightning delay fest against Iowa. Currently 17-0 and they might not score if they played for 3 days.
Hawaii- Hey, they might win a game! Ahead of Duquesne early on the islands. Still, this is a really bad team.
Fresno - Was looking like the class of the MWC west (and maybe overall) but Haener just went down with what looks like a pretty serious injury after being sacked by Solomon Byrd of USC (yeah, him).
UNLV - Your new MWC West champion? Might be. Legitimately competitive, especially on offense.
Mountain:
CSU - LOL.
USU - LOL x 2
UNM - Hard to say. Solid win over a not very good UTEP team. Lost convincingly to Boise in ABQ. Probably improving and anytime Rocky Long is coaching the defense against us I am concerned.
AFA - Decent team, will win plenty of games.
BSU - Not what they used to be but probably the best team in the league if Haener is out.
I mean, I don’t know who will win the MWC, but whoever our best team is, they are not good nationally. It could be us and we were dominated by a lower tier Big 10 team. It could be Boise and ditto for them but with a mid pack PAC 12 team. If healthy, I like Fresno. If they don’t have Haener it’s an open contest.
