Laramie, Wyo. (Nov. 10, 2020) -- The 2020 Wyoming Athletics Virtual Auction, sponsored by Wyo4News.com, held online through GoWyo.com from October 23-November 1, raised $110,000 for Wyoming Athletics.
Nearly 400 Wyoming Cowboy and Cowgirl student-athlete scholarships will benefit directly from the revenue raised from this event. Proceeds from the online event are matched by the State of Wyoming in their commitment to Wyoming Athletics.
"Despite the challenges we faced this fall, our fans and donors are passionate about supporting our student-athletes at the University of Wyoming and truly stepped up and exceeded our expectations for this event. We are grateful for their commitment to our Cowboy & Cowgirl Student-Athletes", said Randy Welniak, Senior Associate Athletics Director.
Part of the online auction included raffle ticket sales for the 2021 Commissioner's Tag, in partnership with the Muley Fanatic Foundation. Tickets may still be purchased online through MFF at muleyfanatic.org. Only 500 tickets will be sold, with the winner announced on December 14, 2020.
The annual auction, historically the Cowboy Joe Club's single-most successful fundraising event of the year, was unable to be held in person this year due to COVID-19. The 34th Annual Cowboy Joe Auction is set for fall 2021 in Cheyenne, Wyo., and the date will be announced next spring.
