1. Oh, what a relief it is. Next two weeks will be major challenges, traveling to Boise State and Utah State, but let's put that off to the side for the moment, and enjoy the victory. These young men never quit or they would not have been able to play the way they did Saturday.
2. It was an awful solid game all the way around. And when it came to decision time, the Cowboys had the answer from the defense in holding Nevada on downs, and from Brian Hill. He came up with the big rushing game, capping it off with the run that allowed the Cowboys to take a knee twice and run out the clock.
3. There was a plea for freshman Kellen Overstreet to get a legit opportunity. The freshman did and he did fine. Would seem he is the No. 2 back right now with Shawn Wick out. Overstreet rushed 8 times for 27 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown run. He also caught two passes for 22 years. Nice job young man.
4. Hill is Hill. He had 33 carries and gained 188 yards, the ninth 100-yard rushing game of his career. He has rushed for 985 yards this season. And he gets those tough yards on third downs, carrying tacklers with him. By the way, he didn't have any stars by his name coming out of high school.
5. Nevada is a run-oriented offense. The Lobs averaged 222.3 yards rushing in each game before Wyoming, but the Cowboys held them to 118 yards. They challenged Nevada to pass and it couldn't. But that's the way it should be done. If there is a glaring imbalance then exploit it. The Cowboys did.
6. The placekicking is a problem, but Ethan Wood did his job as the punter. How about an averaged 49 yards and 2 of 3 punts inside the 20.
7. Cameron Coffman got protection and responded. He wasn't sacked. He was on target. He hit 18 of 20 for 213 yards and three touchdowns. He even ran five times for 32 yards. The concern is the health of Tanner Gentry, who caught 4 passes, including a 46-yard TD, but went out with a shoulder problem.
8. With Lucas Wacha out, DJ May assumed the upperclassman leadership role from his DB spot. He shared the team lead with nine tackles, including an 18-yard sack. Freshman C.J. Jennings and Adam Wingard had nine tackles each.
9. The Cowboys had ball control, particularly in the second half. Wyoming had the ball for 24 minutes, 45 seconds, including 18 minutes, 45 seconds in the second half. That's Bohl's style -- defense and ball control.
10. And a moment to appreciation for Joe Glenn, whose South Dakota Yotes went up to the tundra and upset North Dakota State, a vital victory for the Yotes in their move from Division II to FCS.
