1. Bitter, disappointed, pissed, upset, and rightfully so. I would imagine anybody who cares about the program shares all those feelings, especially the folks on the sideline yesterday.
2. When you fire coaches because the program isn't working and the new man brings a new plan with him it is not a seamless transition. Sometimes you have to take a deep breath and remember that we have had one legitimate year to recruit.
3. What happened wasn't lost on the team. When Coach Bohl came on the post-game radio show Dave mentioned it was a tough day. Coach Bohl quickly said Dave was sugar coating it, and explained the complete disappointment in everyone associated with the game, and didn't spare himself and the staff.
4. Nobody seemed to be in sync, particularly on offense. If this team is to be competitive the offense has to carry more than it's share of the load. It didn't. Other than Gentry the receivers seemed unable to separate and too many passes where somebody (qb or receiver) didn't have the correct route.
5. Defensive line has to pick up its game. North Dakota freshman running back looked like a Heisman candidate.
6. Youthful defensive backfield was least of my concerns. The young men stayed with their men. They weren't left five yards behind. When there was a completion there was help to get the tackle.
7. The work in progress is as obvious as the depth chart. The two deep had six freshman (including Wingard at both backup safety spots), eight redshirt freshman, nine sophomores, 14 juniors and seven seniors. Of the seniors, five were starters: DE Eddie Yarborough, DE Siaosi Hala'api'api, QB Cameron Coffman, RB Shaun Wick, OG Troy Boyland. CB Tyran Finley and C Rafe Kiely were backups.
8. Josh Allen is not going to redshirt. He was put into the game with nine seconds remaining. Physically people have been very impressed with him. He's a sophomore and given the redshirt I would expect he might see some playing time. Word is Coffman had a minor meniscus issue in a knee.
9. Can't wait to get back to the War next Saturday, sit down and watch Eastern Michigan gets its ass kicked.
10. Did anybody notice that Washington State was a 35-point favorite against FCS Portland State. 24-17, and the Cougars were at home for that game?
