....has been in San Diego for a while now. Deep, physical teams.
I know it's early, but so far, the crop of early offers appears like he's trying to reboot/replicate his last team(s). Too many skinny tall guys that project as prospects and guards that shoot 3's. All fine to a point, but are we trying to beat SDSU with that formula? Maybe we can win by pummeling teams with the threes, but SDSU just beat a team far superior in overall talent with a bench that put up 28 points and 18 rebounds, 5 assists. They're built for a long, physical conference season, and define the word solid. In six seasons, three regular season championships, three MWC tournament championships, two NCAA bids (would have been three except for the covid hoax) and now an Elite Eight appearance.
They were 7th in the league in 3-pt. shooting this season, but #1 in defending the three.
Sure hope to see more 6'8", 6'9" 240 type guys being offered, but I think coach just wants shooters. SDSU has the template for success in the MWC. Go ahead and steal from that. He mentioned in his statement the other day that he's learned a few things. The question is, what? The answer isn't to hope Dutcher gets poached by somebody either.
