Cowboys Basketball Opens New Era on Monday Against Concordia, St. Paul
Contest set for 7:30 p.m. start and is part of doubleheader with Cowgirls
LARAMIE, Wyo. (Nov. 1, 2024) - The Wyoming Cowboys will officially open the Sundance Wicks era on Monday evening hosting Concordia, St. Paul in the Arena-Auditorium. The contest is part of a doubleheader with the Cowgirls against Colorado with gametime set for around 7:30 p.m. Wicks and the Cowboys will look to win the season opener for the 83rd time in program history.

The Cowboy Basketball game against Concordia- St. Paul on Monday is part of a doubleheader. The Cowgirl Basketball team will take on Colorado at 5:30 pm that evening, prior to the men's game. Cowboy Basketball season ticket holders will receive a ticket that will grant you admission to both Wyoming Basketball games. The ticket will be as close as possible to your men's basketball season ticket location. This ticket was sent to the Game Day app for all Mobile ticket customers and emailed to all print at home customers. Any questions regarding ticketing for the doubleheader can be directed to the UW Athletic Ticket Office at (307) 766-7220 during our normal business hours 8 am-5 pm, Monday- Friday.
The contest will be streamed on the Mountain West Network. Fans can watch, listen to the contest, as well as follow stats on GoWyo.com. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 26 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Keith Kelly will be on the call alongside Kevin McKinney.
About The Teams
Wyoming does not return any starters from last season but welcomes back four lettterwinners and a walk-on. The Wyoming roster features 10 newcomers for the 2024-25 campaign. Wyoming won an exhibition contest against College of Idaho by a score of 80-63. UW shot 58 percent from the field in the game and held the Coyotes to 35 percent. Wyoming hit 12 threes in the contest and grabbed 47 rebounds.
The Golden Bears are a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Concordia, St. Paul was picked to finish eighth in the league. CSP was 10-18 overall last season and 5-17 in conference play.
About The Players
Wyoming has a pair of 1,000-point scorers on the roster with
Touko Tainamo and
Jordan Nesbitt. Tainamo led the Cowboys in scoring against the College of Idaho with 18 points. Nesbitt added eight points.
Dontaie Allen added four threes against College of Idaho along with
Kobe Newton. Allen finished with 13 points and Newton added 12 points.
Abou Magassa grabbed nine rebounds for the Brown and Gold against the Coyotes in only 16 minutes of action. All 13 available Cowboys played in the exhibition contest on October 25.
Concordia, St. Paul returns 15 players from last season's team. Guard Antwan Kimmons was named the Player to Watch by the conference. Kimmons appeared in eight games for the Golden Bears last season before suffering an injury, averaging 15.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 50% from the field and over 41% from beyond the arc.
About The Series
The Cowboys and Golden Bears will meet for the first time on Monday evening. Wyoming head coach Sundance Wicks and Concordia, St. Paul head coach Matt Fletcher coached against each other as assistant coaches in the NSIC.
