Big Horn High School jack-of-all-trades Christian Mayer was one of several high school juniors to attend The University of Wyoming's spring game last month.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound athlete is in the early stages of being recruited by Wyoming, as well as Harvard, BYU, Penn, Chadron State, Black Hills State, Montana, and Princeton.

Last season Mayer helped Big Horn to a 10-1 mark and the Wyoming Class 2A State Title thanks to his explosive nature. Mayer led the Rams with 28 receptions for 622 yards and nine scores.

He also ran the ball eight times for 193 yards and three scores. On special teams, he returned seven kicks for an average of 35 yards.

Mayer's coach, Michael McGuire, said Mayer has not been officially extended any scholarship offers, though Chadron State and Black Hills State have suggested they will offer at some point.

McGuire said Mayer has a 3.9 grade point average and a 26 ACT, which has him gaining interest from Ivy League schools.

McGuire said this summer he will attend camps at BYU, Princeton, Harvard, Colorado and Purdue.

"He is a great kid, very raw," McGuire said. "His potential is off the charts in my opinion. He has only been in a lifting program the last eight months."
